EXPERIENCE

* Position: Project services manager/ Project controls manager, Lead Shaft No.2 Project

Read, Swatman & Voigt (EPCM),  Oyu Tolgoi LLC ($6.3 bil Copper/Gold mining project)

RSV: Ensure effective cost control systems and procedures are utilised on various projects with annual budgets in excess of $100 million.

Compile cost estimates for engineering & design, feasibility studies and construction work.

Prepare project schedules, milestone schedules, cash flow forecasts, cost to complete forecasts and annual budgets.

Also compile earned value reports, basis of schedules and estimates, manpower reports, procurement schedules, and tender evaluations.

Ensure contracts are compiled and administrated in terms of the particular contracts (NEC, FIDIC, In-house) and other company policies and procedures.

RSV: Oversee EPCM Team of about 20 people - Cost engineers, planners, procurement officers, contracts administrators, document controllers and clerks.

OT LLC: Oversee Owner's Team of cost engineer, contracts administrator, planner and project controls technician.

* Projects: Mining - Platinum, Diamonds, Gold & Copper (Oyu Tolgoi, Shaft No.2, 4 and 5)

* Location: South Africa (Rustenbrg), Canada (North bay), China - Shanghai & Beijing, and Mongolia (Oyu Tolgoi)

* Duration: 6.5 Years (2006 – 2012)

 

* Position: Senior Quantity Surveyor – Engineering Contractors

Jacobs Engineering services, Hitachi Plant & Engineering & Group 5 Projects

Duties included Cost management and reporting.

Valuation of construction work.

Negotiations on new contract rates with clients and sub-contractors.

Issuing monthly payment certificates and final payment certificates.

Settlement of final construction costs with clients and sub-contractors.

Measure work on site for progress certificates and claims.

Preparing extension of time claims, delay claims and acceleration claims.

Oversee site quantity surveyors work.

* Projects: Mining, Processing, Industrial & Petrochemical

 (Mechanical, Piping, Electrical & Instrumentation, Structural steelwork)

All Projects were mainly complex multifunctional piping installations: Orapa diamond mine, Namakwa Sands, MRT Train depot Singapore, Kimberley diamond mine, Saldanha Steel, Mittal Steel VanderBijlpark, Mozal phase 2 aluminium plant, Hillside aluminium plant, Mondi Paper mill exp Richardsbay, Malongo Angola (oil &gas).

* Duration: 7 Years (1996 – 1999, 2002- 2006)

Do take-off’s of building, electrical and mechanical work for BOQ’s. 

Investigating, checking and reporting on the suitability of contractors bid documents.

Settlement of final building costs with contractors and sub-contractors.
