Creating Formulas in Asta

Hi,

Does anyone have any experience creating and applying formulas in Asta Ver 11?

Specifically I am looking for information on how to create a formula that will search for a specific word within the notes of a task and then apply a traffic light system based on the number of times the word appears.

What are peoples experiences of v11 so far? Very surprised after using Asta for years (relatively trouble free) at the amount of bugs in the latest versions.

The worst being a total unrecoverable crash each time my screen saver kicks in...

How many sub projects?

Dear Planners,

Have a dilemma, have about 20 development projects that run consecutively, some 3 years some 5 some about to finish.

Need to track and re-schedule as we go and for many we use internal resources (shared pool).

Should I then put them all into one file and allow the Project Managers access to do their individual projects status or do I put them in separate files?

Is anyone doing this now and if so how well is it going?

Hello All,

Can any users of Asta Powerproject Enterprise let me know their opinion of the product. HAd a demo yeaterday and all looks good, would like to hear experience on how long deployment took and issues faced by people using it.

I posted a simmilar question on MSP Enterprise and have not had one reply as yet, I take it the only people promoting this are those trying to sell it!

Should I bother?

Hello,

I have recently been engaged by a company to assist with their project programming.

They currently use MS Project (not that well) and are leaning towards staying with it.

Should I attempt to indtroduce Powerproject or leave well enough alone.

Interested to hear you thoughts and reasons.

Note, I have no experience with Powerproject.

Cost Centres

I am trying to understand working with costs in Powerproject. Coming from a Project background, I don’t really get the idea of Cost Centres. My questions are:

1. what are the benefits of a Cost Centre

2. Do you HAVE to use a Cost Centre

Adjusting Baseline For Compensation Events

Is there a way to edit / add to a baseline in Asta?

With an existing programme, in MS Project (2003), you can add new tasks (ie. compensation events) and add a baseline to just those tasks, without reassigning the baseline to the whole project.

The purpose for this is to create a new target baseline, to compare agreed dates & durations (ie. 1st contract programme + agreed compensation events) with the actual dates & duration.

Or am i going about this in the wrong way?

The contract is NEC3 Option C
