After entering actuals for an activity, a finish date is wrong: the activity is not finished but it got an actual finish date assigned. I tried to correct this by going to the performance archive and deleting the finish date, but the field can not be left blank.
How can I correct the activity's status to "Not finished"?

Go to Performance Archive, select the activity and if you have access rights to access the screen you will be able to make the necessary adjustments to prior periods performance. You shall be able to assign multiple performance interruptions each of different duration and different resource and cost actuals.
To add the Activity to monitoring sheet you can right click the activity and select monitoring.
If prior periods performance is ok and you just need to reactivate the activity select the activity, and enter a remaining duration value.
