Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi there

I have one quick questin for you guys that came up to my mind.

An activity in a project has its respective activity in the baseline. Most likely the Activity ID for the activity in the project will be the same for the same activity in the baseline. However, that ID in the project can be changed. If it changes P6 will maintain an internal link with the original activity in the baseline but, how can the user (me) see now what the Activity ID is in the baseline whereby each activity in the program is linked to?

Thanks in advance,

Frances.

Marcel,

As I understand, the Activity ID is the only basis where P6 will compare the Baseline with the Current Schedule.

If ever you change any activity ID from the current Schedule, this activity will be considered unrelated with the subject activity in the baseline.

To workaround with your requirement, save the activity ID of Both in an UDF.

Hi Deepak Jain

I am using P6 and I don't think SureTrack is an available tool. Can you confirm that for me please?

About all the coding in P6, can it be accessed and modified?

Cheers,

Frances.

Hi Frances,

In old P3 / SureTrak , there use to be an option to freeze Target (Baseline ) dates. My assumption is the same still prevails in P6, though it may be embedded in coding engine only

If above is correct , then Activity ID is merely a label to task and might not participate as key variable in matching data b/w live and baseline. It would be like when an activity is inserted , a ID gets recorded in compiler and will remain active as long as the user don't delete the task. Now, How to compare these ID's would be somewhere in the source code .....

Hope it helps

Cheers,
