(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Dear All,

 Is it possible to include Defects Liability Period in the schedule?I don't understand what does the Project Consultant mean with this.Is there any possible option on how can I do this? Thanks!

You don't.

 

You just set the date range of the gantt chart to end at handover. Or filter out the defects liability activity when printing. Or choose not to display the timebar for that activity.

 

Asta's ability to change the timescales as you describe is handy, but the lack of it in P6 is to my mind a fairly trivial issue.

More than one way to skin a cat, and all that.

Hi Gary

Now I am curious.

In Asta Powerproject you can set the horizontal date scale at - say - 10 days per cm from start to completion and thereafter 100 days per cm to the end of the 2 year liability period.

How do you do this in P6?

Such minor cosmetic issues are easily solved in every planning software I have ever used, P6 included.

Hi Gary

The problem will be that when the programme is printed all the work tasks will be crowded into the left side of the chart with a two year wide space on the right hand side.

Unless of course P6 have a variable horizontal scale the same as Asta PowerProject.

Of course it is possible.

Your contract will specify the defects liability period -2 years, for example. It will also specify when the period begins -typically at handover.

 

Just add a 2 year activity with FS(0) link to handover.

 

Personally I don't really see the point, but if it keeps the client happy, what's the problem?
