Hi

Currently we are having 5 stand alone licenses of P6 in our office that are installed on 5 different computers. Now we are intending to use all our 5 liceses through Our SERVER so that 5 people can access P6 at a time through our local network.

Could any one here please guide me the steps how to set up server based P6 and what are the other requirements for this.

Many Thanks in Advance

Aqil

aqil,
First, you need to call the primavera sales where your company bought the Primavera software to combine all license into one. Meaning 1 Primavera software equals to 5 licenses. Primavera sales will send you another license file with multiple licenses to use.
Then ask your IT to install your database to your server using the new license file. There is an admin guide included on the CD on how to install it. Configuring your database is very easy once it is already install to the server.
Run the database configuration and follow the wizard until reached the host Name and enter the server name and the new database name (PMDB by default).

Username and Password = pubuser

Actually you can test it on your standalone computer. Below are the steps.

1)     Check if you can connect using your local network from one PC to another PC. Right click to My Network Places shortcut on your desktop and select explore.
2)     Double click Entire Network-> Microsoft Windows Network. You should see all the pc connected to your local network. (If you intended to use your own PC for testing make sure that you share your drive C and other pc can browse your drive do the same for the pc intended to use for testing with Primavera standalone installed.)
3)      Remember the PC name or IP address. (much better to use pc name as shown on the network.
4)     If you can browse the other PC with standalone installed then run the database configuration to your PC. Enter a new database name (i.e. test_PMDB) and follow the wizard until it reach to host name and enter pcname\PRIMAVERA then pmdb$primavera on database name and follow the wizard again. If the configuration is successful then you can use the Primavera Database from other PC.
Note: If the license used for the standalone is only for one then make sure that Primavera is closed to that machine otherwise add a new user into the database under Admin-> User. After the user is added make sure that under licensing tab Project Management is tick.
