Website Upgrade Incoming - we're working on a new look (and speed!) standby while we deliver the project

Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Importing a project gives different resources??

I have a number of projects in P6 with resources. On importing a project file (xmr)I have found that resources previously allocated to other projects are now to be found on activities within the new project.

And when I compare the resource allocation on activities on the source laptop with mine (with the imported file) - they are totally different!!!???

Does anybody have any ideas?

When you do the import, do you have the import resources options set to "Keep existing" or "Update Existing"? These cause problems when the system finds a resource with the same name already exists within the target machine.

To check, set the option to "Create New" and see if the problem is resolved.

Calendars could well be a similar problem.

Samer thanks for that.

Since posting the original query we’ve set the user and admin preferences to be the same on both the source laptop and the destination laptop.

Still no further forward.

In the destination laptop the file is showing a resource from an entirely different project.....?

And all the imported resource calendars are a complete buggers muddle.

We are loosing the will to live!

Dear John,

These problems occur when you have different units. Please check the format and unit at each source.

With kind regards,

Samer
