Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi All,
Here is another problem I am having now, need your help.

While trying to put relationship for Level of Effort activities, i can’t put same activity as pred. and succ. with SS & FF respectively. If I need to link level-3 activities with level 1 (level of effort) and there is only 1 activity in level-3, how can i change the Level-1 activity duration automatically, while changing level-3 activity duration?

Please help.

Thank you in advance for your kind help.

Thanks and regards

Sumit

@Ijaz,
Thank you Ijaz, I’ll try that.

@Dieter,
Thank you for your valued response.

but the problem is,
unlike P3 ver 3.1 hammock activity, in P6 we can not add same activity as pred. and succ. for "Level of Effort(LOE)" activity in Level-1.

my problem is as below,
i have L-3 activities, which should be rolled up to L-1 as summary. for example Act L3-1, L3-2, L3-3 should roll up to Act L1-1 (L1-1 set up as LOE activity with Pred. SS to L3-1, and Succ. FF to L3-3). if i change any act duration in L3-1~3, L1-1 will change automatically. but if i have only 1 act in L3 which should appear in L1 also, i can’t make L1 act as LOE.

However, i’ll try Ijaz’s method to try again.

Thank you guys for your guidance.

BR

In my opinion this is a real exception that one single activity (not milestone) is put into level one. The limit is correct, that an activity cannot have the same activity as predecessor and successor.
Two ways: Include the working activity within level 1 or add a milestone.
By the way: How do you define level 1?

Hi Sumit,
Try changing the duration type of level 1 activity to Fixed Units. I think it will help.
