Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

Fox,

This is just to re-clarify; Is that true if schedulers change activity ID and then try to update baselines, P6 V.6 won’t be able to update that certain activity in the baseline anymore cause the ID is been changed which is the unique identifier of activities between schedule and it’s baseline?

Thanks...

Arnold,

Well, I was talking about fully resource loaded complex schedule; in fact other schedulers in our team have had the same error message and issues with updating baselines multiple times but I guess we have to deal with it somehow or just peace with it! I appreaciate your response though and will retry with V.7 again.

Cheers.

Dude have a look at CSI. If you change a number so it cant be followed it cannot be used in court.

Hi Sean,

I tried to update the Baseline with LOE & Milestone on the schedule. However, I did not receive any error message. My LOE & Milestone get updated. I assumed that your schedule is not resource loaded.

Try the following:

1. Untick all the check box except for Update existing activities already in the baseline.
2. Select the "Update Options".
3. In "Update Baseline Options", untick all the check box except for the "Dates, duration and data date".

You do not need to mark the check box next to "Run Optimized" this is only to optimize the speed of the baseline update. If you select this option and errors occur during the update, errors are not logged.

If your schedule is resource loaded then you need to mark "When updating resource assignment data".

BDW, I am using P6 v7

Regards,

Arnold

Arnold,

Thanks for giving us the confidence on this matter!

So as you may know, updating baselines, eventhough if we tick all options for updating and also tick RUN OPTIMIZED and IGNORE LAST UPDATE DATE, P6.2 still gives us an error after updating the baseline and pressing F5 will show updates results, however that error message and also noticing few activities in the baseline (mostly LOES or Milestones completed before data date) may not get updated. Yesterday working with P6 V.7, I beliveve that error still exists and Oracle / Primavera did not fix it. Any ideas on this error and those activities? Have you had such this situation on I am doing something wrongly?

Cheers...
