Hello again,

I seem to be coming here a lot recently!

Todays question. I have a whole load of activities which are all resource loaded with one resource. I now have to manually set the durations of the resource. Is it possible to do somethign clever to make the durations automatic.

ie and activity has 512 manhours allocated to it. it will be worked in a 4 man team on day shift and night shift (it is on a 16 hour productive calendar to cover day shift and night shift)

SO - 512 / 4 (men in team) / 16 (prod hrs per day) = duration of 8 days.

Is there anything that i can do to stop me having to go through every activity manually setting the activity duration?

Many thanks in advance

Dave

David, if you use the "Fixed Units/time" P6 will change duration NOT the budgeted units if the units/time changed. Oliver’s way work

I will have a fiddle, I kind of want it the other way around, as in, if the budgetted resource changes then the duration moves up and down with it.

Will have a play and see what I can find.

Many thanks Oliver

Dave,

Experiment with the duration type.

If you use ’Fixed Units/Time’ then there is a link between the duration and the labour units.

i.e. if the duration changes the planned labour units change.
