Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi Andrew.
This backup solution will need a SQL skill to reattach the database. I think not much people know it.
So we should just use it in case our OS crashed, and we can copy those file in DOS environment.

Another method with MSDE SQL & Primavera 5 is follow. Close Primavera 5.
Goto Start->Run..
In window type services.msc ENTER
Locate SQL Server (PRIMAVERA) right click and select stop.
Don’t close the services window.
Then open My Computer and browse for path

C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$PRIMAVERA\Data
Copy databases:
pmdb$primavera_DAT
pmdb$primavera_LOG
mmdb$primavera_DAT
mmdb$primavera_LOG
to a secure place.
* Note - the path and names may vary based on your setup configuration

Start SQL Server (PRIMAVERA) again by right click and select Start. Close Services window.
If you are already upgraded to Primavera 6 - the things are much easier in SQL Server Management Studio Express environment.

Regards,
Andrew
