Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

OK, Monday morning brain death syndrom hits once again! I need to change a stack of activities which are all similar but different: ie...

I have a list of activities like this:

Design 07/08 P1
Design 07/08 P2
Design 07/08 P3
Design 07/08 P4 and so on and so on....(don’t ask!!)

I want to change the word ’Design’ to ’Sponsor’ (for example).... does anyone have a good global change that can do this? I’m sure there’s a way to do it....

In some cases the word to change is not the first one so trimming off the first 6 characters will not work.

Cheers

Emma

This thread has made my day.

I know that it seems obvious but ......

Thanks for the question. Thanks for the answer.

Agree with KB - why would you use excel - this is easy.

Why would you bother with excel to search and replace single words? You can do it just as easily in Primavera without the overheads of an export and import.

Easy way is export to Excel ActID & Name.
Use Excel to search & replace.
Re-import back

And before you do the find & replace thing, make sure your schedule is sorted by anything other than activity name. Otherwise after each change, the activities will be reordered and the search & replace might stop before everything is finished.

U don’t need a GC,
Press "Ctrl + R"
Find "Design" and replace all of them with "Sponsor" for example.
