Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Dears
I developed a project schedule with 4 sub projects with resource & cost data on each activity. Then I copied it as my Target1 project scheudle in the same directory. Now when I want to display my target dates etc in my current project, it just does not bring any sort of data and columns are all blanks. The only CRIME that I did is to level the target project before assigning it as TARGET in my current project schedule.
Any ideas what went wrong and how to recover.
BTW, I have already tried F9 and re-copied my original schedule and re-assgined the copied schedule as my TRAGET without levelling or anything and still getting the same results.

Hello Sajid,

There is a direct way to create target projects. In your project group, you can go to Tools, Project Utilities, Target, and at target column, type the name of your target project and hit OK. This will create for you an identical project on the same directory. Just make it sure that there is no similar project name in that directory.

Hi Jhony
You are my saviour. Yes, it was two different IDs. When I copied that I used BL to be included at the left of exisiting IDs. Going to change it to current project IDs now.

Thanks again.

Hello sajid,

Did you changed by any means the Target project Activity IDs? these IDs have to match the Current project’s Activity IDs. The Activity IDs must be identical between the 2 projects in order for P3 to match a current activity to its corresponding target activity...

Thank again Ampo for your reply. As a matter of fact, I am not getting any sort of data from my target1 schedule. Its just not dates, its about everything like durations etc.

I have many other schedules and never had this kind of problem. I ran it on a different system to no avail.

Any more thoughts?

Hello Sajid,

Ah OK, so the target was set. Let us assess further. Can you please check if the right columns were installed in your current project? "Target 1 Early Start" and "Target 1 Early Finish"? Could it be that instead, you have set the Target 1 ACTUAL DATES?

Hi Ampo
Thanks for your reply but, infact I have assigned my copied project as my Target1 project for my current project. Any other thoughts?

Hello Sajid,

Probably, the target was not set at your current Project group. Try to go to Tools, Project Utilities, Targets and check if the target is set at the target column. If not, then enter the Project group name of your newly copied Project group as Target 1.
