I am recently done a schedule in Primavera for a power plant project. I have sucessfully made the project schedule with assigning the base line. I got into a bit of trouble while entering the progress of each activity. I entered 100% completion for activity-1 and scheduled by pressing F9. The next activity date of start shifted earlier even though the start of that activity is after 10 to that of finish of activity-1.

any one can suggest to rectify

Vasudevan

Vasudevan,

Go to File and Project Overview and you should see the project start date and the data date. Hopefully you now know the difference between them.

Vesuduram,

I think your link for each activity is not proper.

Please check and let me know.

Cheers,

Further to earlier discussion on Data date:

If all its predecessors are completed, the earliest date an activity can start is on the data date.

So it appears your data date is even earlier than the Actual start date of your activity 1. Instead of F9, if you had pressed the schedule button, P3 will generate a schedule report which will show you (in P3.out file) what irregularaties were there in your programme information.

Data date is the last date progress was recorded in terms of actual dates, % complete, remaining durations, and/or actual quantities and costs.

Start date- which one? Early Start date is when an activity can start earliest. Late Start Date- the latest date when an activity can start without delaying the project. Actual start date - when the activity actually started.

Hi Vasudevan,

I suppose, the data date of your project is earlier than the Actual Start of this activity. The activity is finished, so it ignored by scheduling. As the activity does no longer exist, it’s relationships are ignored as well.

Did you put a lag of 10 on FS relationship to the next activity?
