Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi all,

While exporting data to excel, P3 usually generates some un-necessary columns containing some random characters. Any ideas to get rid of this ? n any method to have custom defined column titles..

Thanks
Deepak

Deepak,

Please copy paste the first 3 of 4 lines of the export you get and say you have the random characters. If you havent solved the problem yet.

I have never seen P3 output random characters; there must be a reason.

also as previously said: looking at the export "Contents of list" just before an export will and must give you an idea.

otherwise please send/post here an example of the export file. especially the first 3 lines.

if you can let us know some of those unneccessary characters then may be we could help you.

And regarding giving custom names for columns, as far as i know its not possible.

You can try checking the data field under the Export>Contents of List... there could be some data fields which are unneccesary for exporting...

It never happened to me.

Try using RA to get data out of the database - and even changing the samples you can extract exactly what U are looking for.

May be not a big help
