Website Upgrade Incoming - we're working on a new look (and speed!) standby while we deliver the project

Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

I downloaded the Suretrak demo from primavera, installed it and played around with it for a couple of hours today. I think I found at least two bugs in that short time.

Bug 1: After some time "planning" I suddenly got two copies of every activity. The linking between the activities was completely messed up.

Bug 2: I tried to group two plans together, with disastrous results. My plan was using tasks and sub-tasks, and the nice outline view showed the structure of the project. After grouping the projects together, all structure disappeared. All tasks where at the same level.

Now my question: I am new to Suretrak, and I "clicked on everything", so I might have done a few stupid things, but these errors where so severe that I don’t want to buy SureTrak before other tells me that the software is usable for serious project management. Is it buggy, or did I just strike bad luck?

I can’t afford the real Primavera P3, so I am stuck with Suretrak, or something similar.

I have a lot of SureTrak experience, and do not recognise the problems uou describe, BUT
The mere mention of the word "outline" leads me to believe that you are using Suretrak as if it were MSP. I always use Suretrak in the "Project Groups" mode i.e. using the solid Btrieve file format. This is MUCH more reliable, and confers 98% compatibility with P3.

I have used SureTrak for many years now and I think it is OK for construction and building scheduling, especially when the schedule is not resourced and it is one of the more suitable software packages out there. I have never experienced the issues you describe..
