Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi friends,

Just a few things for your discussion.

Few production rates are given below.

1.Backfilling   by machine m3.........0.22

2. backfill by labour (with compaction)  LM.......4

3. bulk excavation 45m haul  m3.........0.09

4.Trench excavation by machine LM....1.67

IS IT BASED ON 8HRS OF WORK..?

any body pls explain.

Regards

Sunil.

Mike,

You should also try to view a copy of the "Spons" publication before jumping to conclusions. The information contained therein is rather accurate. You are correct, tasks vary across the globe and this is where one has to apply the appropriate factoring to suit the conditions.

Hi Sunil

I have just read your original thread and your question - Are these outputs based on 8 hrs a day is irrelevant.

You do not say if the output for backfilling is .22m3 per hour or .22hours per m3 but either way the number of hours per day does not come into the equation.

Hi Randall

I agree that pricing books are a good source of productivity rates but you have to consider a number of factors before using them.

1.  Similarity of installation - ie in Rebar is it insitu fixing or off site prefab.

2.  Location - productivity in the UK is not the same as that in other contries.

The most secure source of labour output is in the Price document / BOQ for the project.

Hi Sunil,

Production rates are always based on defined paramaters. The productivity levels indicate hourly production rates. I would suggest you try to obtain a copy of "Spons" Pricing Book, it has a huge amount of information relating to Civil, Structural and mechanical productivity.

You may even be able to purchase a used copy from Amazon.com

Best Regards
