(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi friends

         I am in steel plant engineering and want to changeove to power plant engineering.Can any one give idea from where i have to start for power plant planning.

  1. what are basic rule for planning for power plant ?
  2. what are the major activity and milestone ?
  3. what are the major constrain ?
  4. what are thumb rule for time & resource ?

Hi Kumar,

Read the "Design Brief" this will give you an idea on what the client wants in terms of capacity and/or output (generation of Electricity measured in megawatts) and what type of power plant they want, i.e. Nuclear, Geothermal, Wind, Steam Turbines, Diesel Plants, Gas Fed Power Plant, Coal Power Plant, etc.

Your 2nd to 4th question will all depend on the capacity and type of plant.
