Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi everyone....Is it a good practice to use the same resources in multiple projects?? If it's okay, then wouldn't the parameters(eg: Resource Calendars,Unit Rates etc.) assigned to resources in a previous project change when i modify the parameters of resources for a new project?

if you were looking to level the same resources across ALL of your porjects then a typical same resource would be the way to go.

Sharing resources among jobs is the order of the day on work by Utilities such as Water and Electrical. It is common to assign the same crew several jobs.  It is not unusual for a job to have assigned several such crews. It is called portfolio/enterprise project management and goes further than managing regular resources, it is frequently limited/driven by financial resources availability.

Zoltan has a point, it is not always good idea to move resources between jobs.  There is not a simple answer to your question.

The real question is why would you want to use a global resource ?

Well if your goal is to measure resources globally or company wide and want to know how a resource is being planned and actualized then a global resource could be used. However if your resource tend to be more project spedific then it would be better to use a project spefific resource where variables can be input
