Planning Engineer, BP, Overhauls Services - Multiple Projects

START Date:
March, 1991
END Date:
August, 2000

Directed and advised in the selection of a front-end package to allow BP to move from an Artemis 6000 system running on an HP mini system to a PC bases Artemis 7000 system quickly and smoothly. Then expanded this system by writing programmes and menu systems to meet the refinery specific planning and reporting needs. This system was later replaced by Primavera (P3).

While working for the Overhauls Services Branch at BP I have created, monitored and reported on plans for a wide range of maintenance and capital project works for execution during plant shutdowns. Items were planned down to a very detailed level (durations of 1 hour in some cases) with multiple resources assigned to each activity.

These programs were produced using PrimaVera Project Planning software (P3) included a full WBS (Work Breakdown System) and  several other coding systems to facilitate complex though flexible report generation. The projects included Mechanical, Civil, Pipework, Electrical and Instrument tasks as well as specialist contractor activities.

Planning several major shutdown projects and capital projects using Openplan and Artemis 6000. Working as part of a shutdown team responsible for pre-engineering, planning, coordination and monitoring of the programmes. Reporting directly to the Lead Overhaul Engineer and advising on manning levels, critical path trends and changes in scope (emergent work). During all phases of the projects frequent site visits were made to ensure first hand knowledge of the scope and progress.
