Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Mangesh,

I do not know of any specific books on site logistics, but I am sure there are many in the market. YOu can always search the internet. Google is a good search engine.

Site Logistics Planning - Pointers.

1st - you need to plan the shortest possible route.

2nd - Make sure that egress and ingress to site is well define

3rd - Make sure that double handling of materials is minimized.

4th - How far can you delay the access area without affecting the completion date.

5th - Plan for alternative route as the project progress.

6th - Prepare a programme / schedule for delivery of materials to avoid bottlenecks and clashes on site.

I am sure there are more pointers to consider that I have not covered, worth reading some materials on site logistics.

Cheers mate,
Daniel
