Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi!

Is there a way to filter resources that have no assignment to them?

Also, what is the best way to filter resources that have no assignment to them for a particular period?

Thanks!

Hi Teresa,

What do you mean by no Resource Assignment? Is it resources assigned on a project with 0 hrs or unit? Or is it a resource created but not assigned to any projects on Primavera database?

Note: Resources are Global and it may be not assigned on a one particular project that not open but active on other projects in Primavera database.

If you are referring to not assigned to any project at all within Primavera database follow the step below:

1) Click the Project icon or select Enterprise-> Projects
2) Open all the projects existed on the list or if Enterprise is organised properly just select the highest level and right click then select open. If not organised then press Ctrl + A to highlight all in the list and right click then select open.

Note: If you are working on a database sit on the server with multiple license and you have a limited access then you might not have all the project access.

3) Once all the projects are loaded to the system click the resource icon or select Enterprise-> Resources.
4) Right click then select Filter by -> All Resources
5) Right click again then select Group and Sort by -> Customize…
6) Under Group by box -> Select Assigned to Current Project then click Apply-> Open
You can display also “Assigned to Current Project “ on the column. All un-tick is not assigned.

Now all Resources are group from assigned to not assigned Resources. Click – or + sign to collapse or expand.

If you are referring to Resource assigned on a particular project but with 0 remaining hrs then you can filter it under Resource Assignment Module.
Same procedure from 1) to 3)
4) Select Assignment icon or select Project-> Resource Assignment and group the resource by Resource
5) Filter all resource with 0 budget or 0 remaining labor units depends on the type of resource (i.e. labor or non labor or mat)
You can also display the actual finish date on the column so know the last date it was used.
