Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

What am I missing here?

I’m clearly being stupid here, but i can’t work out how. Please help!

I create a new (task dependant) activity (fixed duration & units), with no relationships, no resources and no constraints.
I assign it a 7-day calendar with no exceptions, no non-work days, and 8hrs a day standard working time.
Activity start date = project start date = 14th Sep 09
Below are the finish dates P6 gives me for varying original durations:

0 days: 14th Sep
1d: 15th Sep
2d: 16th Sep
3d: 17th Sep
4d: 18th Sep
5d: 20th Sep
6d: 21st Sep
7d: 22nd Sep
8d: 23rd Sep
9d: 25th Sep
10d: 26th Sep
11d: 27th Sep
12d: 28th Sep
13d: 30th Sep

What is happening on the bolded dates? why doesn’t 5d duration give me a 19th Sep finish?

Thanks in advance,

G

All sorted now, thanks.

-I didn’t have the "Allow users to specify the number of work hours for each time period’ box checked in the admin preferences.

Thanks for your input,

Hi Anoon, thanks for your reply

The activity calendar is 7 days/week, 8 hrs/day, no exceptions

The default calendar for the project is as above

The default global calendar for the EPS is 5 days/week, 8 hrs/day with some holidays included.

Even if the activity was using the default calendar instead of the assigned activity calendar, the finish dates in my original post still seem wrong

Cheers,

G
