Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi,

I'm trying to find the solution for the same question and after some research, the following are the steps that will help you to show % progressed for this period: (Make sure to copy the original schedule)

1. Step1: Create UDF  say '1. Previous Month % Complete'

2. Step 2: Create another UDH say ' 2. Progressed % for this period'

3. Step 3: Global Change->New->Call it Previous month % Complete

Then               Parameter                        Is              Parameter/Value             Operator               Parameter/Value

               1. Previous Month % Complete     =           Duration% Complete

Apply Changes->Commit Changes

4. Step 4: Store Period Performance

5. Step 3: Global Change->New-> Call it 'Progressed % for this period'

Then               Parameter                    Is              Parameter/Value       Operator               Parameter/Value

       2. Progressed % for this month     =       Duration % Complete             -              1. Previous Month % Complete

6. Update the schedule

7. Run the global change created in step 5.

Done!!

if you use stroe period performance you can use \

where cost this period is not equal to 0

if you are updatng it monhly

ANY

where

actaul start is with in the range of   DD-1M      DD

or

actual finish is within the range of    DD-1m       DD

th eonly thing missing then would be activities that were in progress and that that have had incremental progressed  during this reporting period.

To get these you would have to  set the previous uddate as the baseline then create a udf and then run a global change to calculate the difference between the duration of physcial % complete q

It depends what and how u want?

What u r always interested is measurement of progress between two reporting periods. This can be every week or every month or every fortnight and its minus from the data date of course....

I have tried to do it in P6, but it seems it is somewhat difficult do get this report directly from P6.

Cheers,

Ravi

HI Abbas,

I am not sure how you define your "current period"?
For example, based on Data Date, which one would you like to filter?

- One week/month right before Data Date, start from Data Date minus one week/month to Data Date.
- Or One week/month right after Data Date, start from Data Date plus one week/month forward.
- Or, a period somewhere in the past of Data Date?

Dear Arnold,

I tried the filter but it lists some of the current period activities but it missed some progressed activities.

I think we have to do this using "Store Period Performance" as Mr. Ravi suggested. The thing is that it was working with P3 and how it can be done through P6.

Please let us know if somebody knows about it.

Best regards,
Abbas.

Hi Abbas,

In addition to Rav info. Try the following steps using P6.2

1. Create a new BL1.
2. The newly created BL1 must came from your last week update. Then assign the BL1 to your current project. This must be assigned into your Primary Baseline.
3. When done, create a new filter (Activity Progress This Week) with the following parameters:

- (All of the following)
Where: BL1 Actual Start "equals" Blank
And Physical % Complete "is greater than" 0%

Note:
1. Blank means no value at all. Leave the value blank.
2. Physical % Complete, if you are using physical otherwise, Performance, Duration..etc...

Just try these steps and let us know.

Regards,

Arnold

U need to use Store Period Performance for this.

I have not tried this in P6, but in P3, it works superb.

Step I: After copying the program, Click on the Store Period Performance

Step II: Define CDI called PLQT (Planned Qty this period)

Step III: Then run a Global Change PLQT = BQWS

Step IV: Update the program

Step V: Run a Global Change T1 = BQWS - PLQT

Step VI: Go to Tabular reports and then make ur custom report using following columns:
BQ, BQWS, T1, QTP

T1 is Planned Qty. This period; while QTP is Actual this Period.

If u want, then u can add Variance Column too.

I am not sure of weather this works in P6 or not (especially BQWS), but works very well for me in P3. I will try sometime today in P6 too and will inform u later.

Cheers,

Ravi

Abbas,

Maybe this could help,

1. Add 1 column and id it as percentage complete
2. Make a run date (current date is recommended)

From there you will see this period % complete of your project. If this is not what you want to get, sorry for that.

Cheers!

Hi Abbas,

I’ve noticed you’ve posted this twice, I’m assuming in error, do you mind if I delete the other posting?

Thanks,

David.
