Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

WBS or Organaize/Group & Sort???

Hi All,

Could you please help me in creating Group and Sort in P6?
Used to worked with P3 now want to switch to P6. Unlike in P3 where I could easily add groups that every activity belongs to, I can’t do it in P6.

Please advise what is the easy way to do it in P6?
Example:

>Engineering
>>Detail Design
>>>Structural Deliverables
Destruct Drawings
Installation Drawings
.....

As Shazad wrote, study "Move from P3 to P6" first.

"Organize" became "Group & Sort". No more selection, if by WBS or by a data item, you can merge both. Sort is no longer inside the Organize-Window, but a button or - much easier - click onto a column’s head.

If your question was related to the codes. The way to create changed. P3 you moved your mouse into the list of available codes and were able to create a new one. In P6 you’ll have to create them first under Enterprise --> Activity Codes, then assign them.

I am not sure about your question however.

in P6 creat WBS as you want like...

Engineering

>>Detail Design
>>>Structural Deliverables
Destruct Drawings
Installation Drawings

under this WBS add activities & relationship etc.

then go Group and Sort Option..

Play with Group and sort...

Please keep in mind while you are using P6 forget as you know P3 ....

otherwise ref. P6 documentaion CD No 3..

there is one chapter (Moving from P3 to P6)

with in this chapter you can under much better what is in P3 and how it will be work in P6.
