Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hello Planning Planet Members - I’m wondering if someone can help me with the following query:

I’ve set up a new project and have resources assigned on a Level of Effort Bar. Duration Type is set to ’Fixed Duration & Units’. The ’% Complete Type’ is set to Physical.

In the Calculations Tab, I have unticked the ’Linked Budget and At Completion for not started activities. I have ticked ’Subtract Actual from at Completion’, and ’Link Actual and Actual This Period Units and Cost’ is ticked.

For each resource, the Budgeted Units and At Completion Units are the same. Against each resource, the ’Drive Activity Date’ is checked.

I started to update the programme with Actual Start Date and Finish Dates, and updated the resources on the Level of Effort Bar with Units % Complete as follows: (All resources at completion 100 hrs)

Res 1 - 10% Complete
Res 2 - 10% Complete

(The results I got when I scheduled the data date forward one period were what I expected - 10 Hrs Actual, Remaining 90 Hrs)

However, when I progress forward another period as follows:

Res 1 - 20% Complete
Res 2 - 20% Complete

The results I get are not what I would expect:

P3E shows the At Completion Units as 50 hrs and the Remaining Units as 40 Hrs and the Actual Units still shows 10 hrs.

I would have expected to see:

At Completion Units – 100 Hrs
Actual Units – 20 Hrs
Remaining Units – 80 Hrs

Can someone possibly indicate where I am going wrong?

Many Thanks

Audra
