Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

HI
I tried to import the project from p3 to p6 but the resource dictionary existed in p6 is not getting updated or clashing. Eg: resource id AC in p6 is Acer Dave but the resource id AC in p3 is Azim Chauhan. Now after you import it into p6 the activity where Azim Chuahan assigned shows as Acer Dave. Is there any idea how to deal with it ? Or a Quicker is How can i keep P3 resource seperatly when the same resource id exist in P6.

Resource ID in the database is defined as unique. If you import a project and P6 does find an existing resource, the rules you defined for import will be used: Keep Existing or Insert New (one of the previous you used), Update or Don’t Import. May be a warning from P6 would be appropriate.
To avoid this effect, you’ll have to check for duplicates before. This is from the "Help"-function: "If duplicate resource IDs are encountered during the import process, you can choose how to resolve each conflict by modifying the import configurations in the Import wizard." (End of P6 Help)
Did you read the paragraph under "Import a P3 project" under "Help" already?
