Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi All,

We have a 8500 plus activity network. We work on a remote server environment. THe schedule is based on WBS, but the grouping and sorting is done by activity codes. Multiple calendars are in use. Baseline has different data date (we have moved it since saving the baseline). We’re using P3e.

We assigned a baseline recently, but when displaying the bars, the visual duration of the bar in the gantt chart section does not represnt the dates we see on the Bl1 start and Bl1 finsih columns. This has us all puzzled, we can’t report our baseline, because it shows incorrectly.

Additionally in some cases, when you refresh (F5) the network, the baseline gets paired up with the current for only a few seconds until you click on the activity and the bar and dates return to its original date, this is not to bad, but if you don’t click on the activity it remains with the incorrect information, so, in reality unless you know what exact date to expect, you can’t know if the information is correct.

Has anyone experience this before or can anyone help me understand this strange behavior of P5e.

thanks.

Hi Guys,

To solve this problem,

Please go to
1. Admin
2. Select the Tab:- Admin Preferences
3. Select the section :- Earned Value
4. Please go to the bottom of the pop up under "When Calculating Earned Value from a baseline use":-
select "AT COMPLETION VALUES WITH CURRENT DATES"

This will solve your problem and you will get the correct date.

Regards

Hi Luca.
Which date field the baseline take from is based on what timescale you choose.

Current Bar: Represents the Start Date to Finish Date.

Actual Bar: Represents the Actual Start Date to Actual Finish Date

Remain Bar: Represents the Remaining Start Date to Remaining Finish Date.

Plan Bar: Represents the activity’s Planned Start Date to Planned Finish Date.

If you wanna compare to Start & Finish field ,you should choose Current Bar in Timescale.

Thanks

Hi
Assuming you created and assigned a project as baseline and you are showing the right one (project, primary, etc...) I notice that P5 when is baselining is taking the dates from the planned start and finish fields.
If these two are not alligned with the Start and Finish fields you may have funny results.

Cheers
Luca

Hi.
You should go to View -> Bar. then check Timescale dropdown list to see whether it match with baseline you assigned.

Thanks

Hello Sebastian,

After saving the baseline, you shall assign this baseline to Project Baseline, Primary, Secondary or Tertiary Baseline. Please check if the date you see in columns and the filter in bars dialog for baseline bar is the same. If you can post screenshots in PrimaveraTools.com, I can help better I think.

Hope this helps,

Ahmet Cetin
