Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

I have a couple of project with their own activity codes but now I have made them global. So if project X’s activity codes are made global, so how can I re-set (not manually) the assignments of project Y & Z? In other words, for these 2 projects, I want to set whats ever in the activity code, for say Dept into the blank column for the global dept activity code.

Mark,

Send me a PP with your email address and I will teach you the easiest way of doing it. You don’t need to re-type or enter it again manually.

Rodel

Hi Rodel,

Thanks for answer but your easy bit was the bit I’ve done already. Its the your 2nd bit where I want to globally set the old activity codes into the global code for each project.

Global update doesnt work as you cant set one activyt code to another. In the end I have ordered on the old project activity code and entered the first value in the global activity code and then filled down and have done this for each value and for each project. A pain.

Easy!!! Open the project Y & Z and select Enterprise-> Activity Codes from your Menu. Tick Project and click Modify. Select the Activity Code that you wanted to convert to Global say "dept" then click Make Global.

Note: It you convert a Project activity code to global Activity code, it does not mean that the Global code is available to all projects. You still need to create an Activity Code for each Project although the Activity Code Groups are available for selection.
