Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Francis, there are many threads on this forum discussing this very subject, and I believe that there are some users who are making available documents comparing the two. Here is a typical thread . . http://www.planningplanet.com/forum/forum_post.asp?fid=1&Cat=2&Top=6300.

I’m always being asked the same question, there are lots of differences which will be more or less important depending on your field of use. Some of the differences will nearly always be relevant. For example, P3e/c (or more correctly now Primavera 5) embraces much newer underlying technology, is much more able to deal with programme and portfolio management, has better coding structures, better role-based resourcing, better web extensions including collaboration, document management and workflow, etc, etc, etc.

IMHO, the best way to understand how the differences between the two products will relate to your needs will be to talk to your local Primavera supplier (I guess CMCS?) who will be by far the best placed to explain, and who should relate the differences and benefits to your environment.
