Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Does anyone have a better way of creating a filter for a Critical Path without using the Longest Path? I have a job where the total job has negative float however some activities in the critical path string has positive float.

Thanks,
JJB

you can fix a number for the total float and the filter will display all activities having a TF less than this number...

You seem to infer that all activities listed as being on the critical path must have the same float in order to be a valid critical path. This was never a part of the definition of “critical path.”

Many issues can cause the longest chain of activities to have different float; activity and resource calendars, interruptible activities, start versus finish float, and constraints come to mind immediately. For more on this, I suggest that you review a paper that I once presented titled, “Longest Path Value” on my website at http://ronwinterconsulting.com/published.htm. Good luck!
