Hi!
I haven’t used MS project before but need to travel interstate next week to convert a MS Project Schedule to Suretrak. I’ve been told the MS schedule hasn’t been baselined though commenced last November. What pitfalls can I expect and is there any prework required?

Cheers.
Karen

Thanks Brad,
You confirmed my suspicions, so am busy trying to find someone within the office with MS98 - no luck so far but I am unable to send you the schedule, thanks for the offer. I thought if I was unable to get MS 98 I could export to Excel then import into Suretrak which was fine for the descriptions but lousy for the dates and durations - darn it. As for baselining as you say it’s going to be a painful exersise as it has been progressed but I guess I’m a contractor paid by the hour lol.

Hi Karen

First thing first what’s your tel no!!!"

onky kidding

Do you know what version of Project they have?? the reason for this if you have got Project 98 you can save the MS project schedule as an MPX file and then open it up in Suretrak. You dont lose any data doing this,

On the programme side, has the MSp Schedule ever been updated?? If so then your in trouble, I have lost count the amount of times I have inherited a programme which was never baselined and the boss/client asks to see the programme as it would have been at the beginning, it involves taking all the progress off, realigning the schedule agreeing it with your PM or whom ever and then baselining, then you have to put all the progress back on, (god im waffling)

Its even worse if your programme is resource/cost loaded,

anyway if you have any problems coverting the programme then drop me a line as I have got MSP 98 and would be more than happy to convert it for you and send it back in a Suretrak file format

all the best
