Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Dear Sirs ,
In a schedule i want to have the free float = 0 , how can i acheive this , let me explain a bit in my schedule i have separated the Procurement of Items in a separte WBS level now i want these items to just stick to the succeding activity for which this items are required , please advice how this can be achieved as now we are preparing a Schedule to complete, and so i expect that the procurement schedule will be overcrowded for the next 2-3 months i want to avoid this .
Hope i made my question clear

It depends on how you would use it.

You have to be careful and limit the use of constraints in your programme as this can influence the real computation of free and total floats (critical path).

Putting zero float is (albeit free float is better than total float) compels an activity to be planned as late as possible. So everytime programme is time analysed this activity always on the critical path which should not be the case.

Assigning early constraint date is less poison because the constraint effect vanished once the data date overuns it.

you could apply a "zero free float" constraint

If you are going to do this, it would be good practice to include some consealed float (lag) in the relationship between procurement and construction activities.
