Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi all,

I’m trying to put a quantity onto a milestone (purchase order).
This works fine for actual MS, but not for planned.

Do you know reason for that, is there a way around that?

Thanks for your help!

Umm have you tried just adding it into the cost window?

Resource ’What ever you want to call it’

Budgeted Cost ’how much it is’

As long as you’ve got the relevant resource in the dictionary, doesn’t appear to cause a problem.

This is how I do all my Milestone payments.

Let me know how you get on?

Cheers

I’m guessing P3 won’t allow you to add planned resources for a zero-duration task, as it would have problems calculating the forecast when it’s spread across zero time.

As for a way round it, a quick and dirty fix would be to change the Milestone to a normal task with a duration of 1, and correct the schedule with appropriate changes to lags.
