Hi guys,

Im badly in need of your help.

Can anyone give me anidea for the detailed sequence of work in construction of spillway.

it is 4-bay gated spillway. The length of spillway is 66.9m, height from the bottom of foundation is 32.0 meters, the width of the foundation is 46.4 meters. Distance between each other is 12.6 meters, and the width of the pier is 3.5 meters..

your quick response is appreciated...

thanks,

eric

Hi Eric

Not really.

The spillway is an integral part of the dam structure and the contuction usually follows the earth fill in stepped stages.

The construction is not complex being a simple concrete trough usually going through ramped and horizontal stages.

The design is crucial because of the rapidly flowing water over it which - if allowed to create air bubbles - will take up the concrete with a negative force and break it up - this is called "cavitation".

A scale model in a lab will be needed to test the design to allow for that.

I hope that helps.

Best regards
