Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hello,

I am about to start a contract job in the UK as a project planner, but the company have requested me to provide a professional indemnity insurance to cover the cost of any possible future claims against me due to my mistakes / omissions.
Is this the general practice in the UK? Do usually companies require such insurance for contract planners?
I would appreciate your comments.

Thank you.

Yes generally most of the agencies I have worked through request this. It is fairly hard to track down companies that specifically cover Planners or Planning Engineers. I used a company called Insurance2day for my PI and my employers & public Liability Insurance and they seem ok.

You will need to call them rather than get a standard policy to explain exactly what you are doing. If you are mainly office based rather than out on site doing work I would mention this as soon as you mention construction sites to Insurance they see £ signs!!

Dear J J.

It is very strange, Im worrking in planning and cost control since 8 years ago, and no company asked me bofre for this kind of insurance.

Although Im working now with 3 Billion USD project , but still no body asked this king of things.
