Guild of Project Controls: Compendium | Roles | Assessment | Certifications | Membership

Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi there,

Can someone please kindly advise which PMI certifications would be most suitable for a Planner who also has exposure to cost control and overall project control concepts?

I was considering the CAPM and PMI-SP certifications as best fits, as opposed to the most popular PMP certfication.

Also open to hearing thoughts on other recognised accreditations (besides PMI) which might be more recognised/beneficial for project controls professionals.

Hi Ryan,

PMI-SP is PMI-Scheduling Professional and includes Earned Value and cost control in the exam.  Its a hard test to pass! for more on this exam see: http://www.mosaicprojects.com.au/Training-Planning_One-on-One.html

The other current certification is the PSP from AACEi, for their relative difference see:  http://www.mosaicprojects.com.au/Resources_Papers_149.html

Or you can wait for the Guild of Project Controls credentials being developed here as part fo the Planning Planet family.
