Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi everyone, in one of the projects this issue came up and we have two critical activities at the same time and the more important issue is the following critical activities are followed by the shorter one.

How is that even possible?

What do I need to change?

Hi Abbas,

Firstly, your settings show the CP defined as Total Float as Less than or Equal to Zero, and in your screen snip it shows the shorter activity having dependencies, so all those activities have Less than or Equal to Zero Total Float, the longer activity is not driving them and the longer activity also has Less than or Equal to Zero Total Float so the schedule is reporting correctly.

What you might want to look at is where the -75 days float is being generated which is attached to the longer activitiy. Check for Constraints along that longer activity dependency network.

David,

Thanks for your reply

Point is when we tick the " longest path", some of the other following activities which were on critical path such as

"Prepare Commissioning plan" /. "Site Access Granted". will no longer be critical but still you can see tha Kick of Meeting is on critical path

But still,  the activitiy by the name of " Delay the KOM" is still on the critical path  And as far as I know, when you have fabrication which is on critical path and have negative float of -75 and the following activitiy after that which is " delay the KOM" and that activity starts at the same time as well and it shouldn't be on critical path at all but still you can see it there.

Abbas,

I am not sure I understand your question, but I will try and answer it anyway!

Tick 'Longest Path' and see if you get the result you are looking for.
