Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

I would like to have Activity Code Description values rather than Code Value when I export data to Excel.

For Example for an Activity Code:

Code Value is Ph1       :         Code Description is Phase 1

I would like to get the description Phase 1, rather than Ph 1. I have to do V-lookups from an external Activity Code table to get the descriptions I need. Is there a was to avoid this step by including it in the export.

Thanks

The code Description values option in User Preference --> Application tab is only available in P6 r20 up. Not available on lower version of P6.

go to edit user preferences click on the Application lab

then under the Codes section under Specify how to display code values

select Description instead of Code Value

now get it how you want it in the tabular area then copy and paste to excel

you can also create a UDF which is user defined field and make it a text value and import these back into P6

then you will have them
