Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hello Guys,

Just like to know if some of you guys experience what we experience with the latest version of P6.

We migrated from v8.4 to v17.12.2 and everything has been okay, but when we import our native .xer file and send it to a client with same version, once opened the labor and materials resources and some cost on the project went missing. We have tried this on differernet PC, different p6 project files and other clients just to check, but the end result is just the same.

And is it just us, or others also experience the same.

Hoping someone can tell us the problem or solution/work-around that we can use. Oracle has been slow in responding to our ticket request.

Cheers!

Ruel

Agree with Zoltan - It may be that there are duplicate resources against the same activity.

Primavera does not like importing the same resource against 1 activity, as it see's the resource already in the database then updates the existing value with the new value being imported.

It is looking for the Activity ID & Resource ID during import, where it see's a match it will update.

When importing, try changing the settings on the XER Import under "Activity Resource Assignments" to "Insert New".

Do not import this as an update to the existing project, as the original resource may be duplicated where there is no duplicate in the import file.

If regularly sending XER files to others for import, on the project settings disable the setting that allows Resources to be allocated to activities more than once - I'm sure that Zoltan has already put a post out with where this setting is.

Regards,

Steven

during the import process make sure that you modify the import configuration and under Data Type:Global make sure that under resources that under the action item that insert new is checked.

Hi Zoltan,

Again It been awhile.

No we did not do anything with the file; it is that when export using P6 17.++ some data (resources) went missing after it is opened by the receiving end also using the same version. But not all, that makes us wonder why is the new version doing that.

Our old version is 8.4 and do not havr any issues on it...
