Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi,

We are looking at cost loading our schedules, but we have hit a snag in that our operatives are paid an overtime factor of x1.5 on Saturday mornings, and a factor of 2.0 on Saturday Afternoon->Sunday .

Is there a way of specifying different rates for Weekday/Saturday Mornings/Saturday afternoons - Sunday?

Thanks

If this shall be done for each resource then it takes a lot of time in projects with multiple resources.

I have just counted 10 keystrokes per resource per price change.

SO,

one resource, changing price every Saturday and every Sunday is 1000 keystrokes per year.  This is a terrible job that has "Graduate Trainee" written all over it, but will only take half an hour to an hour.

You will spend more time arguing about if a job SHOULD be done at the week-end than setting P6 up to charge extra to do it then.

The other issue I have is that not only is the overtime factor dependant on what day it is, normal pay is different depending on what day it is. Can I safely assume that P6 is not suitable for this pay setup?

How do large companies who run P6 cope with these missing features?

Thanks

Ouch I had a feeling there was no easy way, seems like a feature that would prove quite popular judging by the number of posts I have seen with people all proposing different ways around this. Maybe I'll have to convince management that this is too much effort to justify going ahead with.

There is no quick way to do this. You need to add a record to the Units and prices tab in the Resource Dictionary for each resource for every price change.  If you have an SDK enabled database, one of the Primavera Spreadsheets, Dictionaryx.xls will update directly from a spreadsheet and save you hours....
