Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Is there a Primavera setting that will keep deleted Activity IDs from being automatically generated in Primavera 6 Rev 8.2? We normally utilize the "auto-numbering" capabilities within Primavera, but have noticed that deleted Activity IDs are being re-created, thus causing some confusion in our network. Because there are numerous personnel that report on our data, the fact that Activity IDs are regenerated after a task in deleted causes the major confusion.

Hi Chris

First close the project you are working on.

Go to the closed project in the Projects section and change your auto-numbering Defaults for new activities in the Defaults tab to have either a new Activity ID Prefix and/or a new Activity ID Suffix. For ex. your previous activities were in the format A1000, A1010 and so on. Change the Activity ID Prefix to AN1 before adding newly created activities. Now your new activities will start with AN1 (the N1 in this case standing for New1. If activities are added later, change the Activity ID Prefix to AN2 and so on).
