Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi,

I want to schedule a task based on the resource availability.

As per plan:

Project Start date is 02.06.2013

Piling Work Starts on 02.06.2013 by default, duration is 90 days, end date of piling is  say, 01.09.2013

My resource , the piling rig will be mobilized by 03.09.2013. I have choosen the availability of resource from 03.09.2013 to 01.12.2013.

MSP Task Inspect informs that the task has to be rescheduled, when I click the reschedule button nothing is changing.

Pls Help.

Regards,

K. Satish Kumar

The best way to have tasks schedule based on resource availability is to set the task type to fixed units and keep the resource calendar up to date.  Once you have the assignments created then you can resource level but I think it is best to get the demand and then make your own priorty decisions based on the tasks required within a timeframe.

If you are using fixed duration tasks you could be getting the result you are describing.  Fixed duration tasks are looking for available of the resource between the dates of the task.  Your availability dates are also a little confusing.

Kumar,

you need to use feature "Level Resources". It is available in all versions  of Microsoft Project

in MSP 2010 : Resource => Level All / Level Resource
