Technical Director Project Controls, MWH Global, Multiple capital programmes for Europe Africa region

Paul rejoined MWH in 2004 and over the last 6 years progressed from Planning Manager PCM for programmes to Manager of Project Controls to his current role of Technical Director of Project Controls for the Europe and Africa region. His team now supports the delivery of the current MWH Project and Programme portfolio of over £1.5 billion in the region. His team primarily works for the MWH operation with over 1500 EPC personnel in this part of the world but increasingly now provide advice and guidance to MWH external clients, 

The MWH internal work include currently a large number of programme related projects, 150 at Southern Water under full EPC services in the 4D Joint venture, 200 Network projects in London and Thames Valley for Thames Water in the Optimise Joint Venture which in a single year will go from start up to 1400 employees. Plus all MWH engineering framework contracts around the UK and Europe. 

He has responsibility for the MWH Labour force of 40 around project controllers plus additional project controllers from other JV companies using MWH processes. Over the last 10 years MWH has increased their work portfolio but reduced their project controllers with standardisation and automated processes. and merging functional capability 

His responsibility covers all functional planning and cost issues, including business structures, cost management, schedule management, resource management, risk management, change control and the reporting function

He is also one of the 3 global PCMs on the Project Control Board which manages the overall global MWH business. As well as his functional role he works he acts as subject matter support to multi billion pound capital delivery programmes around the world giving advice in the US and Asia Pacific. 

In the last 6 years he has led the Project Control transition start up on every major capital programme in Europe-Africa. and as part of the company’s core global Project Management team has developed the company wide project management & control processes including systems and tools covering 170 offices in 35 countries to create one way of working, in order to reduce company over-runs and improving overall performance.
