Project Description

Working within MM's Oil & Gas Division, I worked on a number of O&G projects and tenders. Key projects included: New fuel depot qwith 27km supply pipeline for Kuwait City Airport, Innovative gas storage solution utilising depleted gas fields in Italy, and a 1,000km+ corss-country oil pipeline in Africa.

Role & Responsibilities

Senior Planner within MM's Oil & Gas UK division, my responsibilities varied with each client and project, but included:

-Acting as client planner to review/approve contractor tender and baseline schedules and EOT claims, advise on pro-active claims defence strategies, monitor contractor performance and consult on oportunities for acceleration and recovery, develop and roll out enhanced and streamlined reporting procedures, etc

I also planned in detail the design, PMO and procurement activities for which MM were directly repsonsible. this included Earned value, cash flow projections, resource utilisation and levelling, etc

Lessons Learned

Working with clients and contractors from differing cultures requires differing communication and management styles; Contractual mechanisms over-burdened with bureaucracy can severely restrict flow of information between the parties and hamper timely decision making
