Pressurised Water Reactor Nuclear Power Station

A  Project Controls Planning Engineer employed by Faithful + Gould, seconded by EDF Energy onto the Investment Delivery Team at the Sizewell B Pressurised Water Reactor (PWR) Nuclear Power Station at Sizewell B in Suffolk. I am part of the Electrical Maintenance team, responsible for eight projects, providing programme and cost support to a number of EDF Energy Project Managers. The projects range from 400kV Transformer Replacements (£5M) to Building shutter replacement (£1M) to replacement of the Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) systems (£500k).

Producing, Managing and issuing to clients a suite of p6 Project Programmes and Integrating 3rd Party schedules and data into the overall project plan

Monitor control and analyse the project programme and cost information using Earned Value methodologies, identify variances, and bring these to the attention of the Project Manager with possible alternatives, prepare specific reports to facilitate challenge and analysis to meet the project’s specific needs.

Meeting with the Project Manager and Project Quantity Surveyor monthly to agree the accruals and  p6 Programme progress and align the programme accordingly

Meeting with the Senior Project Managers and Project Manager monthly to go through the confirmed post month end SPI/CPI position and the projected end life position and any other risks to the project. Any risks with a financial impact to the project are taken through the Change Control process to enable mitigation.

Facilitate acceptance of and ensure that the project plan embraces the full project work scope, is fit for purpose and is achievable. This is in collaboration with the Project Manager and the project’s Key Team members / Task Managers

Regular interfacing and integration with the project controls team to maintain the aligned financial position with the Project Plan
