Component II of the project includes the construction of a new foul sewage Transfer Pumping Station
(TPS), foul sewage transmission mains and Treated Sewage Effluent (TSE) transmission mains. The new
sewage Transfer Pumping Station will be constructed within the site of the existing Al Dhakhira STW and
serve a population of 147,500 with a peak flow of 1,386 L/s. The foul sewage transmission mains will
comprise approximately 21 km of 800 mm twin rising mains and approximately 10 km of 500 mm twin
rising mains. The Treated Sewage Effluent (TSE) transmission system will consist of approximately 36 km
of TSE rising mains of various diameters (most of the order of 800 mm).
