Senior Planning Engineer, Balfour Beatty, Power Transmission & Distribution 

  • ·  Site-based role with greater hands-on experience.

  • ·  Project: Construction of a new 400kV substation & cable connection to a new 25kV ATFS (Auto

    Transformer Feeder Station) – Client: National Grid (Ultimate Client: Network Rail).

  • ·  Successfully undertaken day to day detail project planning and progress monitoring of all work

    packages - from contract award to commissioning and demobilisation - including:

o Civil: civil foundations of all the equipment, Substation control room building, amenity

building, approx. 2 km of road between the two substations.
o OHL:buildingtwonewtowersandturn-intothesubstation.
o Cable:installationofapprox.2kmofcablefrom400kVto25kVsubstation.
o StructurefortheprimaryequipmentincludingCSE(cablesealingend).
o M&E: mechanical and electrical installation of the primary equipment including

disconnector, circuit breaker, earth switches, current transformer, voltage transformer.o Stage1and2commissioning

  • ·  Successfully maintained the quality of the programme according to the required standard for NEC - Option C - contracts to enable successful claims.

  • ·  Provided detail analysis for programme impact of early warnings (EWA), compensation events (CE) and other unfavourable events (such as inclement weather) during the lifecycle of the projects.

  • ·  Proactively communicated the programme with wide variety of stakeholder including: Suppliers (such as electrical suppliers: ABB, GE, Prysmian, Wardpower, PE System, Siemens) Civil subcontractors (Neary , Matrix Renewables) , Clients and Internal stakeholders (QS, PM, Contract manager, designers, Site manager, engineers).

  • ·  Updated progress of the activities and submitted the programme update to the client (National Grid) monthly according to client's specification (TP193) and expectations.

  • ·  Improved client’s scoring on programme by over 50% since joined the project.

  • ·  Participated in risk & opportunity review meetings by highlighting programme risks and evaluating

    time impact of risks introduced to the project.

  • ·  Earned value analysis (EVA); produce SPI reports and advise stakeholders of early indication of

    programme delays, potential impact and agree mitigation plans with them.

  • ·  Maintaining baseline register to manage baseline changes according to approved CEs and re- baselining as required aligning programme with site progress and sequence of work on site upon client’s approval.

  • ·  Continuous programme review to assure schedule quality and avoid scope creep.

  • ·  Assisted QS with forecasting by providing breakdown of monthly planned value and earned value

    based on progress updates.
