Executive Engineer - Development Works, Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company, Construction and Development of Three Industrial Estates in Three Cities

I worked with Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company in the capacity of Junior Civil Engineer (Pakistan Government Designation for young engineers). In this company I experienced the portfolio management experience. In the following I am listing the major activities involved in my job:

1.     Collecting reports from the ongoing programs and associated projects, for the progress monitoring and control.

2.     Preparing the project plans and budgets for the new projects and getting it approved from the Board of Directors. After its approval it was again my responsibility to get it implemented at the site.

3.     Coordinating the new and the latest from the board of directors to the program heads ( the project directors in fields) for their review and concerns.

4.     Preparing the presentation for the CEO and the Board of Directors for the Portfolio progress review meetings held after every two months.

5.     I was assigned as president for the “Technical Review Committee” and “Research Team” in our office, for ongoing and fore coming projects. Under my supervision a technical review for a technical audit of a program of costing about 6 Million US Dollars.

6.     Keeping in view my communication skills and approach of handling situations, I was nominated as the program host for the visit of Chinese Delegation to Pakistan, for the development of 200,000 Acres of Land.

7.     Learned the different techniques and approaches used for the development of the industrial estates, also participated in filing the petition to make these industrial estates as “Economic Zone” for tax relaxation.

8.     Participated in the preparation of a feasibility study with IOS Partners Inc. FL, USA, to develop a 150 Acres Logistic hub besides one of our industrial estates. The study was funded by Asian Development Bank, and was a part of the development of the National Trade Corridor.

9.     Visited sites to inspect project progress and to ensure the conformance with the design requirements.

10.   Performed all project management roles for infrastructure rehabilitation projects in Multan and Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Estates.

11.   Teamed up with Chairman and performed pivotal roles in raising the company.

12.   Ensured that all projects of the company are efficiently executed and completed under my supervision.

13.   Ensured that all project deliverables meet stakeholders’ requirements.

14.   Maintained close liaison with project stakeholders for all project management matters.

15.   Advised/ assisted in selection of sites for future projects.

16.   Performed all roles involved in selection of consultants (pre-qualification, development of RFP/ TORs, establishment of evaluation criteria, carrying out of technical and financial evaluation, and recommendations for the BOD)

Here I worked on the following Construction projects as a directly enrolled engineer for project management:

1.     Development and extension of 1600 Acre industrial infrastructure at Sundar Industrial Estates. This includes the construction of mosques, food courts, roads, water supply and sewerage, waste water treatment plant and other development projects.

2.     Feasibility study of the development of Logistic Hub in Lahore with American Consultants M/s. IOS Partners and Halcrow Pakistan Pvt. Ltd.
