  • Liaising and challenging the project leads and asset areas to ensure individual projects deliver programme targets (project management and cost plans) which are easily evidenced.
  • Higher level planning and reporting requirements of the programme in order to maintain service excellence, the dynamic APD Efficiencies model, achieve the company’s objectives and influence overall Programme & Project performance towards them.
  • Helping identify, generate and drive a climate and process of opportunities for Continuous Improvement to cost effectively improve planning and planning delivery, and associated processes.
  • Contributing towards promoting and developing a strong project programme delivery and lean planning culture within and outside the APD.
  • Driving overall data collection, coordination and improvement action plans.
  • Responsible for regularly maintaining, monitoring & updating Programmes & Projects, progress and status reports and documents, distributing appropriate planning documentation and reports for update and review, (including PAMs, PMMs, efficiency savings, costs, objectives), KPI’s, management control information, visualisation boards, and systems (including LiveLink).
  • Implementing and ensuring an effective and standardised approach to the management of Programmes & Projects governance and Change Control (including costs and benefits, issue resolution, decision making, successes and learning occurs) as specified by the APD programme management team. 
  • Working closely with the Risk Manager, advising the APD programme management team of any impact.
  • Producing, monitoring/measuring, delivering and sharing technical models and /or resource levelled hour/hour plans to the delivery of APD strategic direction - improve the operating performance (reduced cost & improved performance) of the railway whilst maintaining the safety of our people, stakeholders, the travelling public and all our assets.
  • Supporting the asset areas in delivering planning expertise for hour/hour planning using lean methodologies and practises to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Taking overall responsibility for delivering, influencing, educating, and engaging the wider APD on Lean  activities.
  • Supporting the Programme manager to drive the development and implementation of Lean working and improvements, of new, enhanced and/or improved processes and services to deliver the objectives by helping to ensure that the benefits of this work are realised.
  • Helping to develop and deploy the Lean improvement programme by supporting ongoing improvement projects across the APD Efficiency programme and wider community, coordinating projects that affect multiple areas and ensuring projects are aligned to the Lean principles of the APD.
  • Deploying common toolkits to ensure consistency and portability of improvements and learning.
